FAQ

Q: “Where are the rules?”

A: We at yestofreedom have a mildly insular attitude; if we dislike you, you will get banned. There is no fixed set of rules that can guarantee that we will like you. Still, here are few guidelines to prevent wasting both our time and yours:
- If you are racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-intellectualist or anything similar, this community is not for you.
- The ideological common ground between participants of yestofreedom, based on the notion of “freedom”, is (a secular equivalent of) “sacred”.
- Discussing economics or other issues where severe disagreement exists within the community is not recommended.
- If you are easily offended, please leave this website. You might also wish to consider leaving the Internet.

Q: “Are you affiliated with [website XYZ]?”

A: No. We have never been affiliated with any website and are have no plans to be in the future.

Q:What are you working on now?

A: We are currently rallying against bans on erogeand lolicon. For more information on these topics, see the timeline.

Q: “Do you have a hidden political agenda?”

A: We do have a loosely defined political agenda, but by no means do we intend to hide it. Although no single political ideology can accurately represent the breadth and complexity of our collective political opinions, we all agree to the core tenants of anti-authoritarianism. Most of us have relatively close ties to left-libertarianism or right-libertarianism, and we’re generally closer to anarchism than to any other radical political ideology. Our community encompasses people with several, often conflicting, political views, but all of us have one common passion for freedom.

Q: “How can I contact you?”

A: Preferably, come on IRC, especially if you wish to suggest a new project/campaign/etc. idea. Alternatively, you can send an email at contact[at]yestofreedom.org or join the forums. We have no physical headquarters and act solely through the Internet, for now at least.

Q: “How can I help you?”

A: Any ongoing projects requiring more participants will be prominently featured on the Home page. Something as simple as sending a letter, when accomplished by several hundreds of people, can have a big impact. If you wish to join the community proper, we suggest that you come on our IRC channel.

Q: “Why are your members using pseudonyms?”

A: Many reasons motivate that choice. The first might be that having originated from the Internet itself, the anonymity of the members somewhat remained de facto. There is also the fact that the controversial issues that we defend might attract some unwanted attention, that we would not wish to see directed towards our person off-line. This may either be cowardice or wisdom.

Q: “If I support your organization, does that mean I’m into [insert "deviant" material here]?”

A: Supporting our organization means supporting freedom of speech. It does not mean that you partake in the expression that we defend, only that you support people’s right to explore such topics through thought, speech, and expression. As free citizens of the world, it is our responsibility to stand up in defence when those freedoms are being threatened, less for the sake of the particular materials being censored than for the encroachment on freedom itself. A strike against freedom anywhere is a strike against freedom everywhere.

Q: “Can I donate to you?”

A: We accept donations through the Bitcoin wallet 18ZhxJRxVTYwTMBumyniZN9HCF4seaHTNj. All donations will serve first and foremost to pay hosting fees, then will be used to hire lawyers and other workers that have skills yestofreedom otherwise lacks. If we ever receive sufficient donations to pay for more than hosting, we will periodically publish transparent accounts of our spending.
